Denon and Marantz Audyssey MultEQ Editor app puts complete home theater customization at your fingertips

Tuesday, April 04, 2017

Denon® and Marantz® have launched a new Audyssey MultEQ Editor app, allowing home theater enthusiasts to refine and customize the set-up of their systems for even better surround sound.

The latest Denon and Marantz audio video products use Audyssey MultEQ for simple, accurate one-touch set-up and calibration of the system to the room in which it’s used. The Audyssey technology detects the size, type and configuration of speakers used, and also measures their response in the room for optimal performance – whether running a simple 5.1-channel set-up or a full-blown Dolby Atmos/DTS:X immersive surround system.

Chris Kyriakakis, Chief Technology Officer, Audyssey Laboratories, Inc., states: “The Audyssey MultEQ Editor app enables users to enjoy reference sound that is free of room acoustics problems and also apply their own listening preferences. We are very pleased to be working closely with Denon and Marantz to deliver this unique capability for fine tuning these AV Receivers.”

This app allows users to:

  • View the Audyssey MultEQ speaker detection results, to check and modify the configuration, and adjust for any unusual speaker set-ups
  • View before and after results of the Audyssey calibration, making it easy to identify room problems and see just what changes the system is making
  • Edit the Audyssey target curve for each channel pair to suit individual tastes
  • Adjust the overall EQ frequency roll-off for each channel pair
  • Switch between two high-frequency roll-off target curves
  • Enable/Disable midrange compensation to make the sound brighter or smoother, perhaps making dialogue even clearer or taming those hard-edged soundtracks
  • Save calibration results for ‘piece of mind’, ready for instant re-loading should one ever need to reset their system

The Audyssey MultEQ Editor app, available for iPhones and iPads via the iTunes store, and for Android devices via the Google Play store. As it requires specific hardware inside the product to function, the following models are able to use the app (product availability varies depending on regions):

Denon AV Receiver: AVR-X6300H, AVR-X4300H, AVR-X3300W, AVR-X2300W, AVR-X1300W, AVR-S930H, AVR-S730H, AVR-S920W, AVR-S720W. Not compatible with Denon models other than those listed above. Selected upcoming 2017 Denon Network AV receivers will support the app as well.

Marantz unveils Network AV Receiver SR6011 with 9 power amps

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Mahwah, NJ (July 27, 2016) – Marantz®, a world leader in advanced audio technologies, continues to add to its 2016 home theater line-up with the SR6011, which follows the recently announced slim-design NR1607 and full-size SR5011. The Marantz SR6011 offers a step-up in quality build and design, sonic performance and features for the advanced home cinema enthusiast. A key attribute in this price-class is that it comes with 9 power amplifiers that are each rated at 110 watts for greater flexibility in multi-room and 3D sound setups.

Packed with all the latest audio and video technologies, the Marantz SR6011 is an ideal addition to any home cinema, thanks to Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X compatibility. Both new formats feature object-based surround sound with the ability to drive overhead speakers to deliver the ultimate immersive 3D audio experience. To enjoy the new dimensions with ease, the SR6011 is equipped with 9 channel amplification, enabling users to setup a 7.1.2 or 5.1.4 speaker 3D experience without the need of an external amplifier. If users choose to use an external amplifier, the setup can be extended to 7.1.4 because the SR6011 features 11.2 channel processing. If the SR6011 is not in use for 3D audio, the integrated amplifiers can get assigned to drive another pair of speakers in a second audio zone, running a different source than the main room.

The SR6011 features high-grade audio components that have been carefully selected for the renowned Marantz sound. The whole internal circuit further enhances audio quality by delicately handling all signals via the Marantz-own HDAMs (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module) in Current Feedback topology before passing them on to the power stage to fire up the connected speakers. The powerful amplifier section features discrete high current output devices on all 9 channels, and all amp channels are configured identically. Rated at 110 watts per channel (8 ohms, 0.08%, 20Hz~20kHz), the SR6011 has the ability to drive lower impedance 4 ohm speakers on all channels. It has enough power to fill large rooms, and thanks to advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is tailored perfectly to any individual listening room.

Prepared for the future, the SR6011 features an advanced video section that's fully compatible with the latest HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 specifications on all 8 HDMI inputs. With 4K Ultra HD 60Hz video, 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling, High Dynamic Range (HDR), 21:9 video, 3D, and BT.2020 pass-through support on every input, the SR6011 is ready for 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc players, set-top boxes and other 4K Ultra HD sources. In addition, the SR6011 can upscale standard and high definition analog and digital video content to 4K Ultra HD, breathing new life into favorite legacy sources.

Full wireless connectivity is provided by both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, with dual antennas that help ensure robust signal transmission and reception. Once connected, music can easily be streamed through AirPlay®, network attached storage devices (NAS), Internet Radio, Pandora®, SiriusXM, and Spotify Connect® (where available; subscription required). High resolution audio formats and playback are fully supported for incredible fidelity. To round up the flexibility, an 11.2 channel pre-out section, the RS232 port, IP control and support for Crestron Connected makes the SR6011 very appealing for advanced custom installation purposes

No need to study a manual to set-up the SR6011; users can follow the on-screen instructions with the assistance of the Graphical User Interface, Setup Assistant, and Audyssey MultEQ® room calibration. Once set up, daily operation is simple and convenient with the new Marantz 2016 AVR Remote app available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire. For those energy savings, the SR6011 includes a smart ECO mode that can automatically save significant electrical power without influencing the overall performance.

Marantz Refines Its Award-Winning Budget Stereo Duo with the PM6006 & CD6006

Thursday, May 19, 2016

Marantz® today it announces the new PM6006 Integrated Amplifier and CD6006 CD Player. This stereo duo is setting new standards in the mid-class for demanding music lovers by delivering that further refined Marantz sound. The PM6006 and CD6006 are expected to be available in June.

PM6006 Integrated Amplifier

The PM6006 Integrated Amplifier with digital inputs replaces the multi-award-winning PM6005 with superior upgrades combined with favorite features. Marantz has retained the pre-amp and power-amp sections that exclusively feature discrete components – with no single IC in sight of the signal path. The PM6006 is upgraded for peak current at the amplifier stage, which makes it possible to refine the sound in much more detail, resulting in more clarity and transparency. The Current Feedback amplifier technology provides wide-bandwidth and high-speed sound reproduction. In combination with the Toroidal Transformer, the PM6006 holds a massive energy reserve to drive even demanding speakers with absolute ease. And finally, the unique HDAM modules delivers powerful, dynamic, and detailed original Marantz sound.

From the back panel, even the most discerning audiophile can connect the PM6006 directly to a vast range of digital sources and use its superior 24bit/192kHz high current CS4398 DAC to create a high level of audio enjoyment with new media. Furthermore, the unit now includes 2 optical and 1 coaxial digital inputs (an additional optical input from the predecessor, PM6005). And the complete digital section is fully shielded by an extra metal housing to ensure that the digital stage has no effect on the analogue signal. And building upon the best from its predecessor, all of the original features - such as five-line audio input including dedicated phono, two-pairs of gold-plated speaker connections with the convenience of bi-wiring, and a remote handset are still included, making this an excellent replacement to the PM6005.

CD6006 CD Player

The new CD6006 is a fine-tuned model with even more specially selected components and new layout circuit compared to its CD6005 predecessor. The oversized power supply feeds the digital and analogue circuitry of the player, where the high-quality CS4398 DAC converts digital signals to analogue. The signal is ‘pushed’ to the gold-plated cinch outputs by Marantz’s own small signal amplifier, the HDAM-SA2. For those who like portable music, it comes with iPod-digital connectivity. The CD6006 plays back MP3, WMA, WAV and AAC files from a connected USB storage device and directly plays back users iDevice music through its high quality D/A converters. One more thing: the CD6006 features a newly developed, complex headphone amplifier with Headphone amp gain setting for a wider range of headphones. To further eliminate vibration, more rigid feet were added to this model. And as an added convenience for those owning the stereo duo?, it shares the same remote control as the PM6006. Altogether, the CD6006 is perfect for music enthusiasts who want nothing but the best performance at an attractive price.

Review of the Marantz SR6008: Performance and Verdict

Review of the Marantz SR6008 by Trusted Reviews

"After spending a few days in its company, we’ve fallen in love with the SR6008 in a big way. It’s a beautiful-sounding receiver, reproducing our favourite movies and music with spine-tingling sophistication and blistering power.

The best demonstration of its power is Pacific Rim on Blu-ray, which isn’t Hollywood’s finest hour dramatically but provides an outstanding workout for any sound system. As two Jaegers square up to Otachi and Leatherback off the coast of Hong Kong, the SR6008’s immense soundstage easily communicates the size and heft of these colossal figures.

The scene is exciting, expansive and packed with detail. As helicopters shuttle the Jaegers into position, the chop-chop-chop of their blades and bleeping electronics inside the Jaeger cockpits are clear and prominent. Then, as the robots are dispatched into the sea, they hit the ocean floor with a deep, visceral thump and a splash of water that doesn’t sound spitty or harsh.

Dynamic shifts are expertly handled too. When Leatherback suddenly bursts through the ocean’s surface, it does so with a fast, forceful explosion of water, then clobbers its tail into the robot with a vigorous clank. The monster’s roar has enough of a rasp to keep you on your toes but doesn’t strain or distort."
